Left parties go hard on the nuke deal

Will it or wont it ? PM DR.Manmohan Singh's pet foreign policy, the Indo-US nuclear deal faces fresh hurdles. The left parties have once again voiced their Objections over the deal. The ultimatum from the Left is very clear: "Drop the deal, else we will withdraw support". Their voices have become even louder with their emphatic win in Tripura state polls.A state election victory perhaps has no real connection with the Indo-US Nuclear deal. But after an impressive win in Tripura, an assertive Left is arguing against UPA's policies with greater force. The CPM's election victory in Tripura resonated at the party headquarters in Delhi on Friday. The leaders deliberated on the party's political report card.

Their immediate task was to show the red flag to the nuke deal. The government says it will soon talk to the Left about the outcome of talks with the International Atomic Energy Agency. That crucial meeting could happen next week, once the Indian negotiators return from Vienna.''It is for the Congress party to decide. We have always made our position clear and we continue to oppose the deal,'' said Sitaram Yechury, member, CPM Politburo. The CPM general secretary Prakash Karat, who wants the government to clearly spell out its nuclear plans, did not utter the N-word publicly.

So, it seems the nuke deal will be around for another fresh round of controversies. Lets see what hate hangs for UPA government. Watch this space for further developments in the Indo-US nuke deal.
